Compensation Specialist

The Compensation Specialist acts as the business partner and is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and analysis of high-quality compensation programs that meet the financial and operational goals of the organization.  Also provides day-to-day assistance as well as long-term research and planning.



  • Provides compensation-related research, analysis and recommendations
  • Works with the business areas to understand and support key objectives and future plans
  • Formulates recommendations related to incentive program design and reporting; provides timely analysis
  • Reviews existing and proposed statutory and regulatory requirements governing compensation administration and recommends appropriate courses of action
  • May prepare special studies and recommendations on a variety of related programs
  • Participates in compensation surveys and monitors competitive changes within markets
  • Partners with Finance/Corporate Accounting and Labor Planning to provide cost estimates for pay plan changes that impact labor planning/budgeting and coordinate accrual adjustments based upon incentive attainment
  • Prepares presentations, analysis and recommendations on related topics
  • Provides key process support for pay administration, incentive and merit programs

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in HR or leadership
  • Previous compensation experience or prior experience in leadership preferred
  • CCP or progress toward certification preferred
  • PeopleSoft exposure; high level of skill with query tools
  • High skill level with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent analytical, creative problem resolution, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service perspective
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and within a team to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material and information in an ethical, professional manner


Some travel, including overnight required.
