Master Data Lead (Leading Complex Data Implementations)

The Data Deployment Project Leader requires an individual who has experience leading complex data implementations.  This role requires a hybrid skillset which includes a technical understanding of how data is technically used and stored by business systems as well as the business understanding of how that data can best be used to solve the business problems driving the program.  This individual needs to be able to effectively communicate with IT, business, and project leadership.  They also need to be able to balance the roles as champion of SCDM enterprise goals and strategy and the tactical implementation deployment role.   The role requires an individual that can both interact and operate at the executive and program leadership levels as well as down to the program data subject matter level.


Leadership Must Haves:

  • Experience leading/running complex enterprise data implementations
  • Enterprise software Implementation experience (e.g. ERP, CRM, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability bridge the gap between business and IT as well the various departments within those two groups
  • Ability to engage and effectively lead teams with diverse and often remote individuals
  • Project Management skills such as building and maintaining project plans, status reporting, etc.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills

Nice to Haves:

  • Agile Product Owner experience or certification

  • Experience on previous J&J Projects

Data Must haves:

  • Basic data modeling experience and understanding
  • Data conversion experience
  • Data integration experience

Responsibilities:

SCDM

  • Interacting and reporting to SCDM deployment counterpart (Data lead) and SCDM leadership on project status and risks and issues
  • Understanding SCDM strategies and being able to ensure that the tactical deployment is not contradicting those strategies
  • Leveraging SCDM best practices and subject matter expertise within the SCDM deployment group

PMO

  • Building, integrating, and maintaining the data components of the overall project plan and timeline
  • Overseeing data related budget
  • Representing the data team in all PMO activities and meetings
  • Managing data related issues and risks and escalating as appropriate
  • Participating in cross team coordination meetings (scrum of scrums)

Functional Team (Business and System Integrator)

  • Participating in business and software configuration workshops to ensure that data requirements are being addressed and identifying the scope of data work required to support the solution being implemented
  • Working closely with the functional team leads to ensure that all data work is coordinated and prioritized to support that work stream
  • Ensuring that the proper data is available in the proper environments to support all functional team activities
  • Working with the system integrator to ensure that all data work complies with their best practices and software requirements
  • Working with the business leads to define all data maintenance and data governance business activities and ensuring that resources are assigned and trained to perform those activities

OCM

  • Working with OCM lead to ensure that any data maintenance and governance business changes are addressed in overall OCM plan

IT

  • Serving as overall data product owner on all data related development scrum teams (e.g. EDG development, EMS development, etc.)
  • Providing data business requirements, prioritization, and clarifications to ensure that all development activities can be completed to the program timeline
  • Manage the overall backlog and all backlog grooming activities
  • Attend scrum meetings (Standups, Retrospectives, etc.)
  • Working with infrastructure teams to provide input so that the proper infrastructure is in place to capture, store, and move data to meet all program business requirements

Data Team

  • Leading daily ½ team stand-up meetings with team
  • Leading weekly 1 hour team meeting with team
  • Coordinating detailed team data issues/risks/action item tracking
  • Providing guidance and oversight for each data work stream; data readiness, data Integration, data migration, and data governance & processes
  • Providing Subject Matter Expertise in each work stream as required
  • Resolving and escalating team issues to make sure any roadblocks to execution are removed
